B.R. Smith Associates, Inc. (BRSA) was established in 1987 in Presque Isle, Maine to provide high quality land surveying, civil, structural, electrical, and architectural engineering services, and building sciences.  We serve a varied clientele, including governmental agencies, contractors, industrial, commercial and private clients throughout the State of Maine.
 
BRSA presently employs a mix of full time and part time personnel.  This mix includes Professional Engineers, Professional Land Surveyors, Architectural and Civil Designers, Construction Managers, Surveying Technicians, and Drafters. 
 
BRSA recognizes the benefit of technology in increasing the accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of our work.  We have up to date computers,  office equipment, software and survey equipment. Our drawings are developed using 2018 AutoCAD Architecture, and 2018 Land Development Desktop. We provide site, civil, structural and architectural design services complete with survey, analysis, design, drafting of construction drawings and project management as required. 
 
Our business is located within one of Presque Isle’s original houses, located at 11 Hall Street.  We are proud to say that B.R. Smith Associates has been a locally owned and operated business since its conception. The roots of our business start with Mr. Richard Holmes, PLS. Mr. Holmes was a very well respected surveyor who actively practiced his skills from the 1950’s to the 1980’s.  Bernard R. Smith, the company namesake, purchased Mr. Holmes’s business in 1987. He added engineering services at that time and purchased the survey records of John and Henry Hoyt. We manage a vast library of hundred of surveys completed by Hoyt, Holmes and BRSA. Our firm has continued to grow by adding quality staff, design services and current equipment over the last 30 years.
